Mr. Tom Update

ree

Well, well, well... guess who isn't dead. Me. I'm not. It's been quite a while since my last update and a metric ton of stuff has been happening. First and foremost was the latest book release with future hall of famer Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles Brandon Graham: "BG's ABCs"

I'm a hugger, and that man is a walking hug. Sincerely a really nice human being and I really liked hanging out with him and Lesley.

I mean really for a guy that gets paid to tackle people for a living he's a gentle soul and EVERY one who came up to get his signature gushed over him.. even his neighbors who see him all the time. His security guy was also a great dude and always had a snack in the car waiting for him. I think that's how he got Brandon in the car half the time. A technique I have used to herd my tiny humans and something that's been used against me 100's of times by Mrs. Mr. Tom. My personal highlight of this adventure came from two of my former students making their way out to surprise me at the last book signing.

I finished some art for a board game heading to Kickstarter sometime in the future. Vinny was really awesome to work with and if we're being honest if I had to choose a second dream job it would be doing art for a games company. Like Kyle Ferrin for LEDER Games. I LOVE his style, I love that LEDER uses him for all their games and no matter the theme of the game he always seems to nail it. Most of their published games are asymmetrical, which I've never really been into BUT his art brings me right in and I get caught up into playing. If you haven't seen Kromatic Games, Kyle's art or LEDER games do yourself a favor and check them out.

I started teaching tiny humans the Dark Arts and Crafts again at my YMCA. I left the art center where I was previously teaching last year and it feels REALLY good to be back at it. Its a very different system there though. The programs I can teach are somewhat limited. I'm not used to not having complete creative freedom in my curriculum. My hope is to build up the program and be able to draw up some programs for other branches. OVERALL though, its amazing. This is a WAY more accessible setting both in locality and affordability for kids to come and learn.

I'm finishing up the artwork for a new book that's been a LONG time in the works. I think the cover will be revealed soon and as soon as I can share more info I'll plaster it any and everywhere I can.
